NPN Route Requires Essay for Entry!

We often see a number of purchase necessary competitions online. Soon the need to include a no purchase necessary option will be at an end (if it’s not already) but a number of sites, for example HMV, do offer a NPN route usually by post. However, today we’ve seen an interesting NPN route from Attitude Clothing, who in their latest competition are giving away a signed Jackson Guitar.

To enter the competition they require you to shop for some Ed Stone Merchandise. Anyone who buys from them before the end of July is included in the draw. However, if you prefer a NPN route then you’re going to have to do some serious typing:

To enter without making a purchase, please email with your name and address and let us [Attitude] know in no less than 1000 words why you should be the lucky winner! (Please note: The 1000 words must be made up of coherent, non-repeated sentences.)

That’s going to require some serious thought and effort, and if anything it’s designed (in our opinion) to put off the free entry route compers - and perhaps also the automated comping services. This means the prize will more than likely end up in the hands of someone who seriously would love to have that guitar - and that’s not such a bad thing after all.

Win an F1 Trip to Milan With Forza Motorsport 2

People are often put off entering competitions because “too many people will enter” or “it’s too difficult to enter”. It’s these reasons why tiebreakers are preferred by seasoned compers, however sadly it does seem that tiebreaker competitions are becoming a rare species, so finding competitions that may attract low entry levels isn’t getting any easier.

However, we think the current competition from Game fits the bill for a low entry competition. The prize is a trip to Milan for the Italian Grand Prix and to enter you’re going to need to have a copy of the brand new Forza Motorsport 2 Game for either the Xbox 360.

Within Forza Motorsport 2 is the option to customise your own cars and to enter the competition you need to come up with the coolest customisation - it’s your chance to pimp your ride if you like! When you’re happy with your creation you need to get it uploaded via Xbox Live. Only one competition entry per household will be accepted!

It’s difficult to guess the chances of winning the competition, but entrants are going to have to have the game, create a funky design, access to Xbox Live, upload it for entry and then get in touch with Game. If you win, you also have to prove the car is from within Forza 2 by racing it! All these ingredients add up to a potential low entry competition with a fantastic prize on offer.

Forza Motorsport 2 for Xbox 360 is available at Play.com and Game.

If you’re keen on F1 and looking to win tickets via some free prize draws then you search for Grand Prix on the main site.

You have until July 20th to enter!

Win Big Brother Tickets - Big Brother Competitions

The housemates are back and that means that the next 13 weeks or so are going to be Big Brother packed whether you like the show or not. Despite the troubles of the last Celebrity Big Brother series, interest in BB8 seems to be high - most certainly the papers are full of gossip about the lives and loves of the housemates, especially Chanelle, Charley, Peaches Geldof lookalike Emily, Nicky, Shabnam and newcomer Ziggy. Competitions, especially those to win tickets to evictions, though are a little bit on the thin side!

The main competition of note is a Fantasy Big Brother competition being run by new series sponsor Virgin Media. You need to get a team registered before June 4th to maximise the chances of earning points, but we think you can join in the fun throughout the series. The aim is to put together a group of housemates who will earn you points by what they do in the house. You also need to pick an evictee and overall winner too.

The prizes are pretty good too! Top prize an exact replica of the official Big Brother diary room chair (although we much prefer last year’s gold one) a fantastic home entertainment system, VIP eviction tickets and Samsung mobile phones. The game is free to play.

If you enjoy games and bingo then King.com have their Big Brother BB Bath Tub game whilst once again Jackpotjoy are the Big Brother bingo sponsors - look out for chat games and gossip on eviction nights.

If you think you’re a Big Brother trivia expert then why not test your knowledge for the chance to win eviction tickets? BB8 Tickets have Big Brother eviction tickets to the penultimate night up for grabs. Take the quiz and then send in your details to enter the prize draw.

You can find other Big Brother Competitions on the main site - hopefully they’ll be more as the series progresses!

Voicing Opinion On The Magic Voices Competition

The Magic FM Magic Voices competition has raised some interesting discussion, including a fascinating blog post from Adam Bowie, who we understand works for Virgin Radio. Adam provides an insight into radio competitions and highlights a couple of interesting rules that appears in the Magic FM terms and conditions including:

You may only enter the Competition as an individual, any entries that, in our absolute discretion, have been made via participation in a syndicate will be disqualified.

Adam goes on to hypothesise why this rule may exist and from a comper’s perspective it’s well worth reading.

There’s further interesting reading at Digital Spy where one poster reports that the radio station they worked at “had issues with members of organised competition rings entering comps. They gave fake names, bought pay as you go mobiles so they could use different numbers each time….”

Whilst searching Google for more information about the Magic Voices competition we discovered the winner was a Maria Crosskey from Maple Cross (Magics Mystery Voices)!

Fortunately, it does seem radio stations are wising up to these various issues and that can only be a good thing for everyone who is interested in entering competitions.

It’s Not Magic For £168,600 Radio Winner

London radio station, Magic FM has withdrawn a £168,600 prize after an investigation was conducted into the winner of their most recent Mystery Voices competition. To win the competition, callers have to identify the three celebrity voices - if they get all three correct they win the prize. A statement on the Magic FM website reads:

“On 30 March 2007 a listener correctly guessed the three mystery voices in the famous long running Magic competition. Given the large sum of money involved and in accordance with our terms and conditions, we required the winner to provide proof of identity and to undertake a voice recognition test to satisfy the company that the participant had complied with the rules of the competition.

As a result of these exercises, Magic concluded that there was a serious breach of the competition rules, resulting in the judges’ final decision to disqualify the winner.”

Full marks must go to Magic FM, not only for their handling and honesty in the matter, but for ensuring fair play in their competitions! The Mystery Voices competition will return to the radio station in the autumn and the £168,600 prize will be rolled over - meaning a huge sum of cash for one lucky, and genuine, winner.
