Win The All New Jaguar XJ NSPCC Competition

Posted on: October 25th, 2009 by Jason 3 Comments

How would you like to win the all new Jaguar XJ? The first off the production line model, which has a basic On The Road price tag of £62,00, is the prize up for grabs in fund raising competition being run by The NSPCC. As the competition is for charity an entry fee is required – and that entry fee is going to set you back a whopping £125! You can see photos of the launch on the NSPCC’s Facebook page.

Now if you’ve got £125 burning a hole in your pocket and fancy the idea of a brand new Jaguar (it’s so tempting to put Jaaaaguar ala Jeremy Clarkson) then head on over to The NSPCC website and start entering. You’ll need to send in your details and answer three questions before paying out your entry fee.

The competition closes on the 25th November.

Now it’s great that the NSPCC charity is going to benefit from this promotion, but a £125 entry fee? We don’t know about you but that does seem to be a little excessive – and out of the realms of “I’ll give it a go” of a lot of people.

However we do wonder how many people will enter the competition. Could it be low entry? What are the odds of winning? Unlike win a house competitions or the raffle ticket style sites like The Next Bid this NSPCC competition doesn’t seem to have any limits or restrictions on entry numbers.

The terms, however, do state that “the promoter reserves the right to extend, withdraw, alter or suspend this competition for legal or technical reasons without any liability”, so it could be, and we’re speculating here, if the number of entries is low then the closing date will be extended.

It’s a fantastic prize with a fantastic cause, but will you be entering?

I’d happily support the NSPCC because I know the wonderful work they do, but not at £125 a throw. Maybe they’ll do another draw for a Mini for us poverty stricken at £1 a ticket, and leave the Jag to the more well off.
Perhaps they are deliberately keeping the high entry price – aiming the comp at the kind of person that would drive the car and not flog it for the cash?
In my opinion, the NSPCC would have been far better off by giving away 10 Minis at £2 a ticket to encourage more entries.

No prize winner announced on NSPCC website yet. Don’t think they made their target.
