Another twitter competition has become a trending topic on Twitter which no doubt will spark more concerns about competition entrants spamming the micro blogging service. Mpora have followed Moonfruit’s example and are encouraging entries to send tweets including the #mpora to enter their competition to win various prizes including a Macbook Pro.

Mpora Twitter Competition

The competition runs until the 31st July with 4 Macbook Pros up for grabs for 4 days and then there’s a final mystery prize on offer on Friday the 31st July. Whether #mpora will still be a trending topic by then remains to be seen. Moonfruit were removed after 3 days of their 10 day promotion so it will be interesting to see Twitter’s response – not only to the trending topic but the use of tweets and competitions on it’s service.

As Twitter is still fairly new the boundaries for what is and isn’t acceptable are still being set. Most certainly some Twitter users are up for winning prizes simply by tweeting, but if it starts to be seen as spam then it’s going to start causing issues for other users and Twitter. We ourselves have started unfollowing people who were constantly spamming Scramble competition messages.

So on one hand Mpora have created some good news in the form of a Twitter competition with some nice prizes, on the other they may well be helping Twitter make quicker decisions about the future of it’s service regarding these kind of promotions.
