Find Discounts & Offers with Loquax

It has always been our intention to make Loquax more than just about competitions, and over the last few weeks we have been tidying up other areas of the site. One area we’ve been working on is the Offers which also includes an area for Discount Codes.

Our codes section has been put together to make sure that we only show valid codes. We know there are other voucher code sites out there, but often these will get you clicking to find expired codes or even no code at all. We think that’s wrong for both user and the shop’s involved! With our system you can only find in date and codes that Loquax are permitted to promote to you.

Find Discount Codes on Loquax

By using this part of Loquax you do support the site, it won’t cost you anything and also save yourself some money as well!

As well as overhauling the discounts section, where you’ll find expiring codes and a full list of shops with valid codes, we’ve launched a new offers newsletter. This will be independent to the main Loquax newsletter we currently send out every week. It will only be sent a couple of times a month, so don’t worry about being bombarded with emails from us!

There’s no pressure to join the offers newsletter, but we do have £50 to giveaway in a prize draw, if you fancy the chance of winning a few pounds.

Multi Coloured Loquax - Choose Your Own Look!

Sometime ago we introduced an option so that users could pick and choose how they see Loquax. We’re well aware that everyone has their favourite colour schemes and that also not everyone has a widescreen monitor. By selecting an option from your control panel you can set up Loquax to be fat, thin, or one of a number of different colours.

The default for all users is ‘Fat Duck’, however to change to another option you need to go to Edit Options in your User CP (control panel) and scroll down. You’ll then see an option marked ‘Loquax Style‘. Make a selection from the drop down box, and then submit! Et voila, a wide range of bright colours to enhance your favourite website and perhaps give you some extra luck with your comping!

As well the obvious background colour change, there’s also some colour changes on the forums and on other parts of the site (have a play, you’ll see). As we get more adventurous we’ll look to adapting each theme accordingly.

For those of you with 800 sized monitors, the Thin Duck option is the best for you. It’s the same Loquax content, including forums, just narrower!

Now we appreciate that our colour schemes will not be to everyone’s taste, so if you have a suggestion or preference - we’re happy to give it a go and see if we can add other options.

Happy 10th Birthday Loquax!

To celebrate our 10th birthday Loquax has had a much needed makeover. Out go the yellow tabs, the small duck logo and dark blue sidebars and in comes a much bigger Loquax logo, a gradient style background and a cleaner fresher overall look. We hope you like our nice new look!

But how things have changed!

We’ve managed to find some of our older logos and as a birthday treat are going to share them with you…..

The Early Years!
Loquax 99
This was an early Loquax banner, when we downplayed the name in favour of Win Win Win WWW Competitions. Eventually we saw the error of our ways, but graphic design didn’t follow!

3D Loquax
Loquax 3D
This 3D effect logo was all the rage once (it must have been!).

‘Juventus’ Loquax
Loquax
A slightly better logo, but it looked like Tamoil’s logo who used to sponsor Juventus!

Loquax and the Duck

The most recognisable Loquax logo and the first to feature the duck!

And now we have the Super-sized Loquax logo to take us on into another year of competitions and community!

We’d like to say that it has been an absolute pleasure running Loquax over the last 10 years, and without the support of our users we couldn’t have gotten this far. Neither of us could ever have envisaged that Loquax would reach 10 years old and be regarded as the UK’s top competition site.

So we’d like to thank you everyone who has visited us and been part of Loquax over the last 10 years!

Thank you… and Happy Birthday Loquax!

Loquax Wins Gold Award from Web User!

Web UserLoquax is pleased to annouce that we’ve been awarded Web User’s gold award in their latest review of online competition sites (issue 180, 31st Jan - 13th Feb). In their review Loquax comes out top of the pile by picking up 5/5 for features, ease of use, diversity of competitions and quality of prizes. It’s a nice early 10th birthday present for us!

The recognition is perhaps all the more sweeter, as in their previous competition feature, Loquax surprisingly didn’t even get a mention! You’d be right in thinking we’re very very pleased to have come out on top this time round.

The review of Loquax is actually very good. Comments like “ads are not distracting” and “site navigation is pleasantly effortless” are especially pleasing! We did have to read the navigation comment a few times though, surely they don’t mean us? LOL!

As well as the good stuff, there are suggestions about how Loquax could be improved. The reviewer suggested registration competitions have their own category - which they do under Types of Competition!

He also suggested Loquax “appears dated” and “cramped”. A valid point, especially as our current “look” has been the same for the last 2 years, which is something of a record. As ever though, myself and Kirsty are proactive in making sure Loquax is the best it can be for our users, so we hope that some minor tweaks to the site in the next few days will give us a fresher feel!

We’d like to thank Web User for the award, and as ever our users - as without you we wouldn’t be here having fun running the site!

Merry Christmas To You All!

We’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! As usual Loquax will be operational over the festive period, but we will be running a “weekend” service so that we can have a few days off and enjoy a mince pie or two and maybe the odd glass of wine! We can’t send you all indvidual Christmas cards (although thanks to Abbie8 & T1gger who did send one to us) but here’s a special virtual Loquax card for you….
